October 6, 2015

Hey guys, what club sprit we (at least the lucky many) experienced today during lunch.  A round of applause now for our clubs' effort at the event where they graced us with their presence of course food (including churros - hopefully to be a tradition in future school gatherings)!

Now for a update on a more demanding reality:

HOMEWORK
  • Ortega: do a Goodreads assignment if you wish to recieve an AE for your SSR grades (treat it as necessary extra credit)!
    • Do have your college essay in hard copy-form ready to be peer-reviewed
  • Piggott: none...test coming up soon though (hence, all the recent practice and review)
    • Rivas: none...focus on model assembly in class!
      • Holt: Google Andy Weir/Adam Savage Interview (homework from last week (many moons ago)) and read about the subject material we are currently engrossed in in your physics textbooks...
        • link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SemyzKgaUU
          • about 55 minutes long...
        • Senior Project: Blog #8 (a write-up on what you are planning to complete for your independent component 1); the blog is due this Thursday by 8 AM

        SCHEDULE OF EVENTS (second rotation)

        - Ortega: After a peaceful 20 minutes of SSR, we lined up in a semicircle around the room by order of birthdate and got together with 'birthday buddies' (to be listed as number 6 on our partner notebook sheets by the way!) to peer review each other's college essay we had hard copies of on hand.  Straying away to quite places like outside benches and indoor computer tables, we read our essays out loud and then the listener was in charge of vocally giving feedback.

        - Piggott: We took a test on imaginary numbers and then turned it in to this year's math guru.  Our fate is to be revealed next time we meet (keep your nerves at ease in the meanwhile - no use in assuming an outcome).
          - Rivas: Alas, we have arrived to Mock Trial (I say it again because this component must be blown out of the park for it to help grades as it should - it is straightforward and has much weight).  For some background information to the senior year tradition, we heard many 'great', 'patriotic' speeches of the past (words that have yet to be remembered and instead are alive - at work all around our society), and then met with out proposal brainstorming groups.

          - Holt: Today, we went over the Martian Quiz Holt had us take last week.  Then we took some notes on electrochemical cells, after which he gave us time to start figuring out how to design our tangible Hab layouts (don't neglect in being creative and concise).

          - Senior Project: 3 more research checks due this Friday...the ones posted in our working bibliographies from last Friday!

          Some ASB Announcements...
