December 10, 2015 (congrats on your valiant effort in Model Assembly everyone!)

Hey guys, many apologies for the late realization that there will indeed be a RESEARCH CHECK DUE TOMORROW!

This assignment was not verified till today by our house teachers, and so I imagine most of us will be starting and finishing this last obstacle to the week today tonight.

As we wrap this week into a tightly knit present:

HOMEWORK (third rotation)
  • Ortega: do a Goodreads assignment if you wish to recieve an AE for your SSR grades this month (treat it as necessary extra credit); complete exercises one and two on pages 14-15 (summing up pages 1-15) and argue/agree with three of the statements, using templates covered in chapter one, from exercise one on page 29 (in review of pages 19-29) in "They Say, I Say" and make sure you are read up to page 29 thus far
    • There shall be a quick notebook check next Tuesday
Pages 1-15 (intro)

Pages 19-29 (chapter 1)

  • Piggott: none!
    • Rivas: get ready to present and defend your bill as accompanied by a detailed powerpoint for you four groups progressing to the next level of Model Assembly - congratulations!
    • Holt: keep up to date with the material with textbook reading (pages 10-27 so far) as we review a week's worth of material; our video lessons shall be due next week FIRST ROTATION - MAKE THEM SNAPPY!
      • Hab due the 16th (2nd rotation)
    • Senior Project: research check tomorrow during HOUSE!

    SCHEDULE OF EVENTS (third rotation)

    - Ortega: As usual, we started with 20 minutes of SSR. Then we were further introduced to the book "They Say, I Say" by reading and filling out the chart we setup last rotation for the first chapter (pages 19-29), and responding as a class to 3 of statements in exercise one for the reading (as part of the aforementioned homework for the class).

    - Piggott: We corrected this week's quizzes for an adjacent house, and received our graded quizzes back.  We then passed the rest of our time in class by as we listened to a Pandora Christmas-themed playlist (the music was groovy and very jazzy at certain moments in case you were trying to put a name to the tune).
      - Rivas: With the hammering of a gavel (the last sound of its kind to be heard from Model Assembly henceforth), we watched a final committee's presentation of their bill.  We then voted for the bill we thought our house should represent going into the next stage of this law-crowning process.  For many groups, Model Assembly has officially been wrapped up.  For four groups, bills will be presented and debated once more in the MPR (before a select panel of LACOE officials).

      - Holt: We started the construction of the rover and were then given time to finish any pending labs or worksheets that you haven't finished yet (= the tennis ball lab, the '2 of 3' worksheet).

--> key to the '2 of 3' worksheet:

      - Senior Project: there will be a research check THIS FRIDAY
