From "The Revenant, worthy nominee for 12 Academy Awards |
Hey ya guys! So, I realized - with the helpful eyes of a friend - that in my last blog, I called "1984" the title of our other read dystopian novel "Brave New World"...whoops...I hope you all already know what book we are in the midst of reading, so I do hope you may disregard that mistake...
Moving on from being sophomores, we have plenty to do as first semester wraps itself up sooner than expected...catch up, endure the pressure, and in the end, you shall be able to time-travel back a bit through a flashback or two and say "I survived"!
As a repeated reminder, this week starts off the Pusong Pinoy Book Drive, hosted jointly by Diversity Club, HOPE Club, and START (art) Club...bring in young-adult new/used books to your house's labeled box (design them if you care to make the boxes more visible/awesomely-aesthetic), cause the senior house that wins will win a HOUSE POINT and if that house wins the school wide competition, it shall win a choice of either a PIZZA OR ICE CREAM PARTY!
Newsroll #2:
HOMEWORK (second rotation)
- Ortega: prepare your notebooks for a notebook check second rotation; finish the second section of "
Brave New World1984" by next Monday (you have less than a week of reading)
- Piggott: review review packet, and study for test
- Rivas: take home test on our thoughts regarding voting in the U.S. (and how this concept applied to what we experienced during our very dramatic/eventful Model Assembly campaign trail) and what grade we think we deserve for work logged into Model Assembly due this Friday (follow the directions carefully in how he wants it turned in...); two Source Analyses per person due second rotation
--> format of each Source Analysis should look as follows:
--> schedule of events in the coming weeks:
- Holt: keep up to date with the material in your textbook readings as we enter a new lesson in the coming weeks, and don't forget to retake your Motion Quiz if you need to and have not done so already (each is out of 28 points, and every point counts in Holt's class as he enters final grades into the grade book this weekend)
--> study the following pictured vocabulary and where they appear in context...please don't mind the sliver of Holt (haha)
- Senior Project: Research Check this Friday; fill out your second lesson worksheets handed out in advisory house (they help you organize your lesson plan and such)...lessons will be taught by us (who else?) in two weeks (first week of February)!
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS (second rotation)
- Ortega: Today's class was another light one in that we met in the computer lab and took a NWEA test on language. Our leftover free time was spent in hopes of being productive (i.e. senior project browsing, dystopian novel reading, etc.).
- Pigott: We reviewed our review sheet guiding us through solving techniques for matrices in anticipation for our upcoming test (happy studying), then partook in a "hot seat" roasting.
- Holt: We tested the remaining Angry Bird's rocket flights, while the rest of us tested our projectiles for fun again, worked on extra credit from an advanced Physics textbook, and reviewed for retakes
