January 22, 2016

"Survival of the fittest (not to be taken literally or in a discriminatory way)" - congrats to ALL of us

As a reminder, this week started off the Pusong Pinoy Book Drive, hosted jointly by Diversity Club, HOPE Club, and START (art) Club...bring in young-adult new/used books to your house's labeled box (design them if you care to make the boxes more visible/awesomely-aesthetic), cause the senior house that wins will win a HOUSE POINT and if that house wins the school wide competition, it shall win a choice of either a PIZZA OR ICE CREAM PARTY!  Drive shall run till February 19.

Newsroll #4:

HOMEWORK (second rotation)
  • Ortega: finish the second section of "1984" by this coming first rotation (Mo/Tues) and fill out the worksheet with second section questions in your notebooks (you have much less than a week of reading and writing)
  • Piggott: review review packet, and study for the test to take place first thing next week
    • Rivas: Source Analysis #2 due next Thursday
--> format of each Source Analysis should look as follows:

--> schedule of events in the coming weeks:

    • Holt: keep up to date with the material in your textbook readings as we enter a new lesson in the coming weeks; none for now...
    • NOTE: mind your electives
    • Senior Project: there may be a research notebook "pop check" early next week, so have it up to date with research check #14 COMPLETED and at least some evidence that you started looking over the material for research check #15 next Friday...lesson #2 the week after next week

    SCHEDULE OF EVENTS (Friday)

We attended a festive GreenFest trade show (brought to us by the Juniors) introducing green methodologies - some as delicious and revolutionary as "fruit smoothies" - we can adopt as a society during a good chunk of Advisory House, had elective first thing in the morning in place of a third rotation for a class, and discussed the layout for our second lesson activities in pairs during the remaining chunk of Advisory House...

    Some ASB Announcements...
--> Keep checking your emails for updates (especially if you are a PowderpPuff player, coach, or cheerleader!
--> HOPE Club will be selling waffles next Thursday at lunch in front of Pellegrini's Room in support of the Red Bucket Equine Rescue Center for abandoned horses!
--> Bring books for the Pusong Pinoy Book Drive and support less fortunate children in the Philippines who entertain/educate themselves with the power of reading/literacy!  We have more than 200 so far so lets keep up the streak
--> HOPE Club's continuation of its toy drive for the homeless (from December) will be taking place SOON (I shall keep you posted one way or another)...
